Sander Closes Gumming
Anguish Languish is the name of a book published in 1956 by Howard L. Chace and made extra popular by good old ukelelest Arthur Godfrey later that year. Since then, the term "Anguish Languish," or "Anglang," has been used to describe the result of rewriting something using words that sound like the original words but have different meanings. These words are officially known as "homophones," though many of the examples in my own attempts, below, are really only near-homophones, and a few are far stretches indeed.
